StoutFS Explained
StoutFS is the campus-wide network drive service provided by LIT.
The Stout file server, StoutFS, includes access to a personal share (traditionally M:), department share(s) (S:,T:,U:,etc), and University share (O:). This location is backed up nightly and recoverable versions of the files are taken twice a day.
- The personal share (M:) is used to store personal work related files. Files in this share are not accessible to anyone else.
- The departmental share (S:) is for departmental files work related files. These files are available to everyone in the department, and for anyone outside of the department that has been granted access.
- The university share (O:) is used to transfer files between departments or to make available to all users of StoutFS. Files in this folder are available to everyone.
Access to StoutFS is available at a rate of $20 annually per 3GB per person. This must be purchased to gain access to a departmental share.
Department shares are provided, but limited to 20GB. Departments can request to increase this limit in 20Gb increments for $133.
To request access to StoutFS, please submit a HelpDesk ticket.
Some individual departments do maintain their own departmental file shares.
