Microsoft Teams Recording Expiration

Microsoft Teams sets a Teams meeting recording to expire after 60 days. The user is able to extend this or remove the expiration date if they choose to. These recordings count towards your total OneDrive storage space.

Microsoft Teams Recording Retention

When you create a new Microsoft Teams Recording, an expiration date is set by Microsoft to help maintain the space used for video storage. As the video owner you do have options to change this retention time. There are three different options that you may choose. LTS recommends option two. This option helps us maintain our Microsoft storage limits at recommend levels.

Option One

Your first option is to leave the expiration date alone and the video will be deleted after 60 days.

Option Two

If you need to retain your recording, your second option, which is the recommended option is to upload it to your My Media account in Canvas from your OneDrive account. To do this you will follow Canvas: Uploading Files to My MediaYour video file will be located in your OneDrive folder under Recordings.

Option Three

You are able to extend the expiration date of your Teams Meeting recording by going to you meeting recording message in Teams Chat
