Alumni: Resetting your eStout laptop with a Personal Account

Directions for resetting your eStout laptop with a personal email account.

After graduation, your eStout laptop needs to be reset with a personal email account. In addition it needs to be removed from Microsoft Intune.

IMPORTANT: If you do not follow these steps, you will lose access to your computer when your Microsoft 365 account is disabled. 

Step One: Backup Your Data

Before making any changes, ensure that you have backed up all your important data to an external drive or cloud storage.

Step Two: Create Local Account

  1. Search "Settings" in the Windows search bar
  2. Click Accounts
  3. Click Other Users
  4. Click Add Account under Other Users
  5. On the Microsoft Sign-in page click I don't have this person's sign-in information
  6. On the next page titled Create account click on Add a user without a Microsoft account
  7. Enter information for local account that will be created and enter security questions
  8. Under Other Users the account you created will show up, click on Change account Type and select administrator.

Step Three: Unenroll from Intune

  1. Open the Settings app on your computer.
  2. Go to Accounts.
  3. Select Access work or school.
  4. Find the account that is connected to your campus's Intune environment.
  5. Click on the account and select Disconnect.
  6. Click on Restart Now
  7. At the login screen you will see your Local account that you just created, sign in with the password you picked.
