eduroam Wireless Network: Connecting on Ubuntu

Instructions on how to connect an Ubuntu computer to the eduroam network

The eduroam wireless network is the preferred wireless network on campus for active students, faculty, and staff.

Connect to the eduroam wireless network on a computer running the Ubuntu or similar operating system:

  1. Open the system tray on the top right of the display

  2. Click on the right arrow in the wifi pane

  3. Select "All Networks" from the drop-down menu

  4. The settings app will open. From the list of networks displayed, click on the "eduroam" SSID

  5. In the Wi-Fi settings prompt, select "Protected EAP (PEAP)" in the drop-down menu next to Authentication. Additionally, select the No CA certificate is required checkbox.

    On the bottom of the menu, in the username field enter your Stout email without the "my" included in @my.uwstout.edu - it should appear as username@uwstout.edu. Enter as your Stout password in the password field. All other fields can be ignored. Once done, click Connect.

You're all set! Now you will enjoy secure, high-speed wireless internet access anywhere on Stout's campus and any eduroam-enabled institution using your same Stout campus credentials.
