Updating Crestron DMPS Firmware

Instructions on how to update a processor's firmware using Filezilla and Toolbox

Checking For new Firmware

Before you install any firmware onto the processor, check for any updates available on the Crestron Website.

Firmware File Types

The type of file used for the firmware changes based on the version of devices, listed below.

  • DMPS3-4k-1xx: The firmware is packaged as a zipped folder. This file can be left as zipped
  • DMPS3-4k-2xx & DMPS3-4k-3xx: The firmware is packaged as a .puf folder.

Installing FTP software onto the processor

Note: The instructions will be carried out using the Filezilla software. The software can be downloaded from the Software Center App

  1. After opening Filezilla, look near the top row of the page to these sets of boxes.

    • Connect to the target device using the information
      • Host : the IP of target device
      • Username & Password : the Admin Username & Password of target device
      • Port : enter “22”, if this fails, try “20”

  2. Hit the ok button to attempt to discover the device

  3. Once the device has connected, the screen should appear close to the screenshot below

  4. In the menu on the bottom right, navigate to the FIRMWARE folder then complete the following steps

    1. Delete any previous contents of the FIRMWARE folder (Especially any folders labeled "extracted")

    2. Drag and drop the new firmware into the folder. (If the file is a zip folder, do not extract it, the set of next steps will automate the unzipping process

    3. For DMPS3-4K-1xx devices

      • Drag & drop in the zipped file folder in

      • Rename the file to DMPS.2025

      • Do not extract the file

    4. For DMPS3-4K-2xx and DMPS3-4K-3xx devices

      • Drag and drop the .puf file into the folder

    5. Give the software a couple minutes to process the download before continuing to the next steps

Initializing the Firmware Update

  1. Open up toolbox software and open Tools

  2. Click on the pencil icon to access the Edit Access menu

  3. Paste in the target IP address into the Address: window and hit ok

  4. The device may prompt you to enter the Admin username & password of the device to access it

  5. Upon a successful entry of information, the Text Console's input area will rename to the model of the device

  6. From here instructions differ based on the device model
    • DMPS3-4k-1xx: 
      • Type the command “pushupdate DMPS.2025.zip full” and hit enter
    • DMPS3-4k-2xx & DMPS3-4k-3xx: 
      • Type the command “puf full” and hit enter
  7. After the device takes the update, the firmware is likely to take upwards of 30 minutes to install.

Verifying the Update Was Successful

  1. Back in toolbox, using a text window, reconnect to the DMPS processor in a text console window using the method above
  2. Once the input area reads the model name, enter the command "version" to check the current firmware version
