Microsoft 365 (M365) Copilot includes additional tools beyond Chat including Search, Teach, Create and Notebook. 

Accessing M365 CoPilot Chat

You can access all M365 Copilot chat tools in a browser at https://m365.cloud.microsoft/chat/.

You can also pin it to your toolbar for easy access.

Pin the M365 Copilot App in our Taskbar

  1. Download the Microsoft 365 Copilot app
  2. Open the Start menu
  3. Type Copilot
  4. Right‑click Microsoft 365 Copilot
  5. Select Pin to taskbar

Alternatively, if Copilot is open

  1. Right‑click the Copilot icon on the taskbar
  2. Choose Pin to taskbar

Copilot Chat in the browser (Edge)

You can install Copilot as a web app and pin it like a native app.

  1. Open Edge
  2. Go to https://m365copilot.com
  3. Click ⋯ (three dots) > More Tools > AppsInstall this site as an app
  4. Once it opens as an app, right‑click its icon on the taskbar > Pin to taskbar

What it is:

Copilot Chat is a conversational AI experience that helps you ask questions, get explanations, brainstorm ideas, and summarize information using public web data. (If you purchase a M365 Copilot license it will search your Microsoft 365 content.)

Common use cases:

  • Draft or refine emails, announcements, or talking points before sending them in Outlook or Teams
  • Ask questions in natural language (“Summarize this topic” or “Explain this document in plain language”)

Search

What it is:

Search allows you to quickly find relevant information across your Microsoft 365 environment—such as files, emails, chats, and meetings—using natural language instead of keywords.

Common use cases:

  • Find a file you can’t remember the name of by describing its content
  • Locate emails, meeting notes, or documents related to a project or topic without digging through folders
  • Locate a document by describing its content instead of its filename

Availability:

Users can build agents without a paid license

What they are:

Common use cases:

  • Create an agent that answers common questions using SharePoint or policy documents
  • Support specialized workflows such as onboarding, help desk triage, or student/faculty support scenarios
