Accessing Course Information
In the event of a system outage, use the following resources to retrieve or back up critical course information:

Grade book Management: Learn the process for
Exporting and Backing Up the Canvas Grade book to maintain offline records of student performance.- Best Practice: Instructors can export their grade books at midterms and prior to finals week as a standard preventative measure.

Enrollment Records: Instructions on how to
View and Download Class Rosters in Access Stout for attendance and communication purposes. -
Performance Metrics: For detailed student engagement data, refer to
Downloading Reports in Course Analytics .
Textbook Access Off Canvas:
- VitalSource: Student can access VitalSource Textbooks if Canvas is unavailable if they have previously set up an account with an email address and password. They can access them in two ways outside of Canvas.
• Web: Log in at bookshelf.vitalsource.com
• Mobile and Desktop: Students who have previously signed in on the VitalSource Bookshelf mobile and desktop apps can continue accessing their ebooks there.
We recommend that students set up their VitalSource account now so that they can access their materials in a variety of ways if necessary.
