Spririon (formerly Identity Finder)

Identity Finder is installed on campus systems

Identity Finder Logo

Spirion (formerly Identity Finder) is a commercially available product that is designed to find personally identifiable information (PII) located on computers and attached storage devices. Identity Finder will scan for the following information: social security numbers, credit card numbers, passport numbers, and bank account numbers. Should your computer be stolen or compromised, this information will provide the information necessary to understand the potential data lost and help security staff make informed decisions regarding reporting and notification.

Modern day virus and malware creators are interested in stealing any personal information off your computer and are less interested in harming your data. They make no money harming your computer, but could make millions selling or using social security numbers. In the event that your computer is compromised, any data on your computer could potentially be siphoned off and distributed or sold for malicious use.

Once the application has been successfully deployed to your computer you will notice an icon similar to that on top of the page on your desktop. At this point you do not have to do anything, as the application will run in the background. If you would like to perform a manual scan of the computer or an attached device, click the icon to launch the application. If requested to create a password, please click Skip
