Robert S. Swanson Library Center: Public Computers and Printers
This is a general overview of the public computers and printing resources available in the Library.
The Robert S. Swanson Library Center is a great resource on campus and is home to approximately 15 public computer workstations. A majority of these computers are located on the 1st floor but there are a few in the common areas on floors 2, 3, and 5. These computers are for faculty/staff and student use. All computers require a valid UW Stout username and password to log in.
For specific information about services offered by the library or to check open hours, please consult the library Library Homepage.
Software Installed on Public Computers:
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Access, Publisher, Outlook)
- Microsoft Internet Explorer
- Microsoft Edge
- Google Chrome
- SPSS
- Library Public Printers
If one of these applications are missing or if there is an application you would like made available on these computers, please contact the Technology Help Desk.
Printing:
There is one multi function printer available on the 1st floor of the library. This printer can be used by anybody with UW Stout credentials and can be accessed from both personal and Stout-owned computers.
Printers are already installed on the public computers in the Library. To install this printer on a different computer, please follow these directions: On Campus Printing (Students): Quick Start Guide
In addition to public computers, there are two quick print stations that can be used to print from OneDrive or a portable hard drive. There is also a KIC Scanner available for scanning pages to print, email, or save to USB.
Please note that your UW Stout Campus Card will need to be swiped at the Library's print release station in order to retrieve your prints. This helps the campus reduce print waste on campus. If you have misplaced your campus card, you can get a new one by visiting our Campus Card Office in 110 Price Commons.
More information about library printing is available from the Library Printing and Scanning page.
Archives and Research Center:
In addition to the public computers, our Archives department (located on the 5th floor) has computers available for research use. Please contact our Archives department at archives@uwstout.edu for more information.
Geographic Information System Lab:
The GIS Lab is located in room 111 and has approximately 30 computers for lab and public use. Classes are held in this room but there are two computers available outside of the lab for public use during these times. These computers are all set up with the same lab image and software.
