Teams: Meeting Options

How to set teams meeting options to force users into a lobby, turn off announcing new members and participant level options.

Create a Meeting

In Microsoft Outlook create a new meeting request by choosing the Teams Meeting button on the ribbon.

In Teams, go to Calendar and choose New Meeting. select a meeting, and then Meeting options.

To view the meeting options, click on the event in your calendar. The Meeting Options will be added to the meeting description. Click the Meeting Options link in the meeting description.  You will need hold the Ctrl button when clicking if you are editing the meeting.

After clicking the link, a new tab will open in your default browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Internet Explorer). You will then have the ability to change the meeting options settings. These settings may change as the Teams is updated, but currently include:

  • Who can bypass the lobby?
  • Let callers bypass the lobby (Yes/No)
  • Announce when callers join or leave
  • Who can present
  • Allow mic for attendees
  • Allow camera for attendees
  • Record automatically
  • Allow meeting chat
  • Allow reactions
  • Provide CART captions

Example options

Once you have made all your selections, click the Save button to save the changes.

The meeting options can be changed at any time by opening the meeting in your calendar and clicking the meeting options button.

Meeting Options During a Meeting

During a meeting, select People to show participants in the meeting controls. Then, above the list of participants, click the ... and choose Manage permissions.
