Remote Lab Access - HP ZCentral
Instructions for logging in to computer labs from off campus using HP ZCentral Remote Boost.
**Please note that this access is in response to the Covid 19 crisis and will not be available once this emergency situation has been resolved**
Remote access to computer labs has been defined by courses in specific labs. Not all computer labs are available. Remote access requires you to be connected to the campus VPN. For instructions on connect to the VPN, please see the associated KB.

CONNECTING FROM A PC
First, install the ZCentral Remote Boost Receiver software.
For students on PCs, this is located in Company Portal:
For staff and faculty using a PC, this is located in Software Center:
Open "HP ZCentral Remote Boost Receiver" from your Start Menu. The following ZCentral Remote Boost window should open:
Click on the gear icon in the upper right to open the settings menu. The settings will open to the Connection tab. Scroll down and find the section named Sender Verification. As shown below, change the "Certificate Verification Failure Policy" to Automatically accept.
Click Home in the upper left of the Setting window to return to the main window.
Type in the name of the lab computer you wish to connect to, followed by ".uwstout.edu". Example: JH316-01.uwstout.edu It is important that you use the "lab name" (BuildingRoom-Computer) and not the "C-XXXXX" name.
A new window will pop up asking you for your username and password. Enter your username without the @my.uwstout.edu at the end. Click OK.
At this point the remote desktop window will open. Please sign in as you would normally sign into a lab computer.
**It is extremely important to Sign Out when done. **
CONNECTING FROM A MAC
First, install the ZCentral Remote Boost Receiver software.
For students on Macs, this is located in the Managed Software Center, in the "Remote Access" category:

For staff and faculty using a Mac, this is located in Self Service:
Open "HP ZCentral Remote Boost" from your Applications Folder. The following window should open:
Click on the HP ZCentral Remote Boost menu at the top of the screen. Choose Preferences.
The settings will open to the Connection tab. Scroll down and find the section named Sender Verification. As shown below, change the "Certificate Verification Failure Policy" to Automatically accept.
Click the red dot in the upper left of the Setting window to return to the main window.
Type in the name of the lab computer you wish to connect to, followed by ".uwstout.edu". Example: JH316-01.uwstout.edu It is important that you use the "lab name" (BuildingRoom-Computer) and not the "C-XXXXX" name.
A new window will pop up asking you for your username and password. Enter your username without the @my.uwstout.edu at the end. Click OK.
