Asset Management: Printers Explained

Are printers inventoried on campus?

Printers are no longer inventoried computer equipment; therefore, they have been removed from departmental inventory lists accessed via the online self-service Inventory Audit. While it is anticipated that departments will monitor printer locations for their own management purposes, a campus-wide printer inventory verification is no longer required.

Printers are now considered general office equipment. Printers valued at $5,000 or more are still subject to capital asset inventory.

Learning and Information Technology will maintain a functional inventory of networked printers. If an LP-number appears among a department's list of computer assets it is due to clerical error and can be disregarded; this is cleaned up annually and will eventually be rectified and removed from the list.
