How to record voice messages and convert audio format for a VoIP response groups

Capture Voice Recording

Windows 10:

  1. In the windows search box type voice recorder and click on the app

     2.  When program opens, click on the microphone icon to start the voice recording

           Note: Most laptops have a built in microphone.  If you are using a desktop without a microphone you will need plug in a microphone

     3.  When complete with voice message click the stop recording icon

Change Audio Format

The file format that is required for response groups is Windows Media Audio (.wma) or Waveform Audio File (.wav) .  By default voice recorder saves as M4A: Unprotected audio file

  1. Open Adobe Media Encoder - If you don't have adobe media encoder installed on your computer Software Center (PC): Installing software on faculty, and staff Windows computers
  2. Drag audio file that was created earlier into voice recorder Queue
  3. In Presets (Right column) drop down Audio Only and highlight WAV 48 kHz 16-bit
  4. Drag to left column and drop on voice recording
  5. Press the green play button
