VoIP - Skype for Business Availability Status (Presence)
How to change your presence status to control your VoIP phone when using Better Together
When Better Together over Ethernet (BToE) client is used in conjunction with Skype for Business client a user can control how the VoIP phone connects incoming phone calls.
There are six different presences statuses that a user can choose in Skype
|Presence Status||Description||Phone Status||How this gets set|
|Available||You’re online and available to contact to be contacted.||Phone rings and calls are connected||Skype for Business sets this status when it detects you’re using your computer. You can also set this status when you want others to know you’re in your office even though the computer is idle.|
|Busy||You’re busy and don’t want to be interrupted.||Phone rings and calls are connected and eventually route to voicemail||Skype for Business sets this status when, according to your Outlook Calendar, if you use Outlook, you have an appointment. You can also select this status from the drop-down arrow. If you manually set Skype for Business to Busy, it will revert back to your Outlook Calendar status in 24 hours if you do not change it before then.|
|Do Not Disturb||You don’t want to be disturbed.||Phone does not ring and calls are routed directly to voicemail||You select this status from the drop-down arrow. If you do manually set Skype for Business to Do not disturb, it will revert back to your Outlook Calendar status in 24 hours, if you do not change your status before then.|
|Be Right Back||You’re stepping away from the computer for a few moments.||Phone rings and calls are eventually routed to voicemail||You select this status from the drop-down arrow.|
|Off Work||You’re not working and not available to be contacted.
||Phone rings and calls are eventually routed to voicemail||You select this status from the drop-down arrow or is set automatically with your out of office.
|Appear Inactive/Away||You’re logged on but your computer has been idle, or you’ve been away from your computer for 5 minutes or a time specified (set by you) in options.||Phone rings and calls are eventually routed to voicemail||Skype for Business sets your status to “inactive” when your computer’s been idle for five minutes, and to “away” when your status has been inactive for five minutes. You can also select this status from the drop-down arrow. VoIP calls and IM's will still come though|
