Error Activating Microsoft Office on student (eStout) laptop
Launching an Office product the student is prompted to activate or an activation message is displayed in word
To activate Office on a Stout-issued, student (eStout) laptop
The most common cause of activation problems is because "Microsoft account" was selected, rather than "Work account". Office 365 for Education is considered a "Work" account.
- Launch an Office application (MS Word is recommended); the Activate Office prompt opens
- Enter your full UW-Stout email address (don't forget the @my.uwstout.edu) and click Next
- Select "Work account"
- Select "Work or School account" again
- Enter your full UW-Stout email address and password again. Click "Sign in."
Individuals who see a "PRODUCT NOTICE" bar in MS Word should click the "Activate" button and follow the preceding steps.
Most of the features of Word have been disabled because it hasn't been activated.
