Map Network Drive - How to Map a Drive on Student Laptop - Windows
Manually map a network drive on a student (non-domained) computer
Please note that student shares are based on specific class enrollment and hence not available to every student. Instructors will inform students of eligibility and need. Student shares are not intended as long-term storage or backup and are subject to deletion after coursework concludes. Students are encouraged to use OneDrive for backup and storage.
See "Mapping student shared drives" for drive paths for student shared drives
- Open File Explorer in taskbar and find This PC
- Right click on This PC and click Map network drive...
- In the drive list, choose a drive letter. You can choose any available letter (your instructor may have recommended one standard to the class). In the "Folder" field enter the path provided or advised by your instructor (most are available here). Substitute your own username where applicable and don't forget the dollar sign ($) if shown in the path.
- Check the box for Connect using different credentials. When prompted enter your username followed by @uwstout.edu (as shown); if desired, check the box for Remember my credentials.
