Blackboard Collaborate Ultra: Checking Participant Network Connections
This article explains how to check the network connections of participants in a Blackboard Collaborate Ultra session.
Note: Google Chrome is the recommended browser for use with Blackboard Collaborate Ultra.
When you are in a Blackboard Collaborate Ultra session as a moderator, you may want to check the network connections of participants. If participants are having trouble with audio or video, it may sometimes be attributed to a poor connection.
To access the Chat tool, you must open the Collaborate Panel. To open the Collaborate Panel go to the lower right-hand corner of your screen and click on the purple button with the double arrowhead in it.

When the Collaborate panel opens, click on the Participant List button.

Your Participants List should open, showing you and all other session participants.

When you mouse over the name of a participant, the connection status icon will appear.

When you mouse over the icon, an popup alert will tell you the status of the participant’s connection. If the connection is great, the full icon will appear.

If the connection is poor, the icon will appear with fewer lines and the alert will tell you that their connection is poor.
