Learn@UW-Stout -- Grades: Exporting/ Importing

The grade book allows you to export and import grades from excel and numbers. It sometimes can be easier than entering your grades online and gives you a back-up for your grades.

Exporting Grades

Go to the Learn@UW-Stout Grade Book and select export.

You can choose if you want to export for all users, or groups.

The key Fields will let you select if you want the report to have the Org Defined ID in it or the Username or both.

Then select if you want the Grade Values to be Points grade or a Grade Scheme.

Then select which User Details you would like to include in the report. The automatic settings checked are Last Name, First Name, and Email.

Choose Grades to Export shows which graded items you would like to include in the report. Learn@UW-Stout automatically selects them all.

When finished, select if you would like it to export as an excel document or a CSV.

Import Grades

Go to the Gradebook and select Import.

Only Numeric, Pass/Fail, Sectionbox and Text grade items, and the Final Adjusted Grade can be imported. 

Step 1: Select File to Import


You can import either .CSV or a .TXT file.

Import the file by selecting the choose file button.

Open the file. 

Item Creation

Check the box to create a new grade item when an unrecognized item if you want to create a new grade item when it doesn't recognize an item.

Step 2: Errors and Warnings Found


Fields with an error will not be imported. If no errors were found, press continue. 

Step 3: Preview Import 


If everything in this area looks correct, select import.
