What is Learn@UW-Stout?

UW-Stout's learning management system (LMS) is Learn@UW-Stout. Online course content is delivered by Learn@UW-Stout. Students can access courses in Learn@UW-Stout on the course start date as displayed in AcessStout . Learn@UW-Stout is powered by BrightSpace, by D2L. Instructors may use Learn@UW-Stout for posting important class news, posting the content material that will be covered in the course, creating Dropboxes to upload assignments to, quiz taking, and updating grades.

How do I log in to Learn@UW-Stout?

When you are on the University of Wisconsin-Stout homepage, select the logins icon on the top of the page. This will prompt you to choose between "UW-Stout Login" or "Guest Login." If you are logging in with a UW-Stout Login you will use your usual UW-Stout credentials (username- your e-mail address before the @; password- same as your e-mail password)

What if I want to change my password?

If you want to change your Learn@UW-Stout (D2L) password, you will first need to request to have your email password changed (as both systems use the same password). Once your email password has been changed, it will automatically be updated in Learn@UW-Stout (D2L).

What do I do if I receive an "Invalid Username/Password" error when logging into Learn@UW-Stout?

If you receive an "Invalid Username/Password" error when logging into Learn@UW-Stout, you should first try changing your password at: https://password.uwstout.edu/. UW-Stout has a one year password expiration policy and recently there have been a lot of students whose passwords have expired. While your password expiration won't prevent you from getting into your email, it will affect other campus applications, such as Learn@UW-Stout and Access Stout.

If I enroll or drop a course, do I automatically get added or removed from the course class list?

Yes, Learn@UW-Stout is updated on a nightly basis. If you do not see a change right away, wait overnight and check again in the morning.

What are the recommended browsers for Learn@UW-Stout?

There have been several reports of problems uploading documents to the Dropbox and downloading Content when using Microsoft Edge. You may still be able to use the document reader for some of these files.  If you are experiencing this issue we recommend switching to the latest versions of either Google Chrome or Internet Explorer when accessing Learn@UW-Stout.

What is Respondus LockDown Browser?

The Respondus LockDown Browser is a customized browser that increases the security of quiz delivery in Learn@UW-Stout. When students use the Respondus LockDown Browser to access a quiz, they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications. Once a quiz is started, students are locked into it until it's submitted for grading. To install Respondus LockDown Browser visit the Learn@UW-Stout homepage. On the right side of the page, under the Student Resources section, select "Respondus LockDown Browser Install."

There is a wide array of Knowledge Base articles available for both students and instructors about accessing and using each of the tools on Learn@UW-Stout.

Where can I get technology assistance for Learn@UW-Stout?

Learn@UW-Stout is supported by a friendly staff in the Learning Technology Services office located in Room 322 of Millennium Hall. Office Hours are Monday- Friday 8:00 to 4:30.
