Learning to use the playhead in Camtasia is important because the playhead serves some important functions.
When you open a project, the playhead will be all the way to the left of the timeline by default.
You can click and drag the playhead to anywhere in your recording that you want.
You can also click on the numbers in the timeline to move the playhead to a certain point.
One of the functions that you may want to use is to play back a certain portion of your recording without playing the whole recording back. You can do that by grabbing either the red side or the green side of the playhead and pulling it out so you've got a certain area highlighted.
Once you have that area highlighted you can click on the play button and it will show you what is playing just in that part that you selected.
Another thing you can do with the playhead when you have an area selected is actually delete portions of the timeline. So you have an area selected and just hit the delete key on your keyboard and it deletes those areas and it leaves an empty spot.
