People Directory: Microsoft Outlook (Desktop)
Searching for People using Microsoft Outlook Desktop Version
There are several ways to search for people in the UW-Stout People Directory using Microsoft Outlook desktop version.
- Search using the People Pane (Search People Pop Up Window)
- Search using the People Pane (Search People box on the Ribbon)
- Search while Composing a New Email
Search using the People Pane (Search People Pop Up Window)
- Click on the People View Icon on the left of your window
- A Search People pop up window will open. In the Search People box, begin typing the first few letters of the person's name. Note: Searching by last name may give you better results.
- From the results, put your cursor on the name of the person and Outlook will display more information about the person. Click on the drop down arrow in the bottom right hand corner to open up the Contact Card.
- The Contact Card will list the person's email address, phone number and office location. Click on any of the options to communicate with the person via IM, Email or phone. Note: You can click on the pin to keep the Contact Card open.
Search using the People Pane (Search People box on the Ribbon)
- Click on the People View Icon at the bottom of your window.
- Locate the Search People box in the Find section on the ribbon at the top right.

In the Search People box, begin typing the first few letters of the person's name. Note: Searching by last name may give you better results.

Click on the name of the person to open up the Contact Card. The Contact Card will list email address, phone number and location. Click on any of the options to communicate with the person via IM, Email or phone. Note: You can click on the pin to keep the Contact Card open.
Search while Composing a New Email
- Click on New Email and enter name in the “To…” field.
- Right click on the name of the person and select Open Contact Card from list of options.
- The Contact Card will list email address, phone number and location.
