2-Step: Adding a Secondary Device (Phone/Tablet)
Some users may want to configure a secondary, backup Duo device. This will walk you through the steps of adding a Duo phone or tablet to an already existing Duo setup.
*Note: If you do not have your primary device for setup you will need to contact the Technology Help Desk.*
- Go to password.uwstout.edu to begin the process.
- Login with your Stout username and password.
- You will be presented with this screen. Select Configure 2-Step authentication.
- You will be presented with a Duo authentication page. This may vary depending on if your primary device is a phone/tablet or FOB.
Authenticate with Duo using your usual method. - This will bring you to this page (please note that this page may vary depending on if your primary device is a phone/tablet or FOB): Select + Add another device.
- Select Mobile Phone or Tablet.
*For Mobile Phone, continue to Step 7. For Tablet, continue to Step 11.* - For a phone, enter the phone number, check the check-box, and click Continue.
- Select the phone type and click Continue.
- Ensure Duo is installed and then select I have Duo Mobile Installed.
- Scan the QR code and select Continue to finish the setup.
END OF PHONE SETUP - Select the tablet type and click Continue.
- Ensure Duo is installed and then select I have Duo Mobile Installed.
- Scan the QR code and select Continue to finish the setup.
When logging in, you will now have an option for which device you'd like to use.

To delete a device, simply select Device Options and select the red trash icon.
