How to obtain headers from an email message
Email headers can aid in diagnosing spam and phishing messages as well as troubleshooting email delivery.
- Follow the appropriate instructions below to first display the message headers.
 - Outlook for Windows: Double-click the message to open it in a new window. Select the File tab and then click Properties. The information needed is next to Internet headers
 - Outlook for Mac OS X: Right-click or control+click the message, and then select View Source.
 - Outlook Web App (OWA): Choose View message details from the drop-down menu next to Reply/Reply all.
 - Copy the entire header section and paste the information displayed into an email message and send to the Technology HelpDesk technician that is assisting you. A partial sample of what a email header looks like is below.
