FlexPrint – Printing and Releasing Jobs at the Printer

This article describes how to print and release print jobs from UW-Stout printer or Multifunction Devices (MFDs).

With the Flex Print update, you will no longer print directly to a specific printer. Instead, select the appropriate print queue below:

  • Stout_FollowMe – Department printers
  • Public_FollowMe – Shared public printers that are not part of Flex Print
  • ResHall_FollowMe – Residence hall printers that are not part of Flex Print

After printing, go to the printer you want to use and follow the steps below to release your print.

Release Print

At the Log in screen on the printer, enter your UW-Stout ID and tap Log in.

When logging in with your ID include the leading 0. Example Stout ID 123456. Enter in as 0123456

If the MFD has a card reader installed, tap your card on the card reader to log in.

Understanding the Print Queues

UW-Stout provides three print queues:
Stout_FollowMe
    • Intended for department-funded printing.
    • Available to employees and authorized student employees.
    • Print jobs are charged to an approved departmental account.
    • Jobs sent to Stout_FollowMe can be released at any FlexPrint-enabled MFD on campus.
Public_FollowMe
    • Public_FollowMe printers are not part of FlexPrint and continue to operate separately from the FlexPrint system.
    • Available to all UW-Stout users (students, faculty, and staff).
    • Print jobs are charged to the user's personal BlueCard account.
    • Jobs sent to Public_FollowMe can only be released at:
      • RSLC_123_MFD_1
      • MSC_100L_MFD_1
ResHall_FollowMe
    • ResHall_FollowMe printers are not part of FlexPrint and continue to operate separately from the FlexPrint system.
    • Intended for UW-Stout residence hall tenants.
    • Print jobs are charged according to Residence Hall printing policies.
    • Jobs sent to ResHall_FollowMe can only be released at residence hall printers.
Important: Print jobs only appear in the queue they were sent to. If your job is not listed at the printer, verify that you printed to the correct queue (Public_FollowMe, Stout_FollowMe, or ResHall_FollowMe).

Troubleshooting

My print job is not listed
  • Confirm you printed to the correct queue:
    • Public_FollowMe for personal/BlueCard printing.
    • Stout_FollowMe for departmental printing.
    • ResHall_FollowMe for residence hall printing.
  • If you printed to Public_FollowMe, release the job at:
    • RSLC_123_MFD_1
    • MSC_100L_MFD_1
  • If you printed to Stout_FollowMe, use any FlexPrint-enabled MFD.
  • If you printed to ResHall_FollowMe, use any printers located at the residence hall front desk area.
