Connect to StoutGuest Wireless Network

Process of connecting to StoutGuest Wireless Network on the UW-Stout campus.

A password is not required to connect to the StoutGuest wireless network using a computer or mobile device; users register by submitting an email address through the authentication process before they are allowed connection to the network.

Please note that a connection to StoutGuest will not allow access to secure resources such as Canvas and Access Stout. Active Stout students, faculty, and staff should connect to the StoutSecure wireless network.

Connect to StoutGuest using mobile Device

  1. From your mobile device, locate and select the general settings icon.
  2. Find and click the Wi-Fi icon or setting (Note that the Wi-Fi setting might be under a different tab, depending on the mobile device you are using. So, be familiar with how to find the Wi-Fi setting on your particular mobile device).
  3. From the list of available wireless network click StoutGuest.
  4. Select the Connect Automatically check box if you want StoutGuest to remember your device in the future, and then click Connect
  5. After loading, a browser window will open with the UW-Stout Wireless Guest Access page with the network acceptable use policy. You may have to open a browser to see the acceptable use policy page.
  6. After reading the policy, type your email in the Email Address text box at the bottom of the page, and click Accept.

If the email address entered is correct you should be successfully connected to StoutGuest. If not, repeat the process from 1 to 6.


Connect to StoutGuest using a Laptop

  1. Click the wireless network icon found on the taskbar of your laptop.
  2. From the list of available wireless networks, click StoutGuest.
  3. Select the Connect Automatically check box if you want StoutGuest to remember your device in the future, and then click Connect
  4. After loading, the UW-Stout Wireless Guest Access page appear with the network acceptable use policy. You may have to open a browser to see the acceptable use policy page.
  5. After reading the policy, type your email in the Email Address text box at the bottom of the page, and click Accept.

If the email address entered is correct you should be successfully connected to StoutGuest. If not, repeat the process from 1 to 5.
