Networking Printing: Physically Moving Networked Printers
What to do when your department is planning a move.
Moving networked printers, even a short distance within the same office, requires assistance from the Technology Help Desk and possibly EO Johnson.
Please create a ticket for the Technology Help Desk to check that the network station to which the printer will be moved is active; if the station is found to be inactive, activation fees will apply.
Please schedule accordingly and allow adequate time for network modifications to be made; printer moves are not a same-day event and at least one week's notice is recommended.
The tech assigned to the printer move will coordinate with EO Johnson if they are needed.
Please note: Changing the room in which a printer is located will result in the printer being renamed and as a result every user of that printer will need to reinstall it.
