Networking Printing: Physically Moving Networked Printers
What to do when your department is planning a printer move.
Moving networked printers, even a short distance within the same office, requires assistance from the Technology Help Desk and possibly EO Johnson.
- Create a ticket for the Technology Help Desk. We need to know:
- Printer name (ex. ADMIN_410_MFD_1)
- New printer location
- Department contact person
- Please schedule accordingly and allow adequate time for network modifications to be made.
- Printer moves are not a same-day event and at least one week's notice is recommended.
- The tech assigned to the printer move will coordinate with EO Johnson if they are needed.
- Please note: Changing the room in which a printer is located will result in the printer being renamed and as a result every user of that printer will need to reinstall it.
