Microsoft Teams: Change video backgrounds

Summary: Microsoft Teams will allow you to apply a background image when you are in a video call or meeting. You can select from the pre-loaded backgrounds or upload your own.

In Microsoft Teams, you can find options to apply a background image when you are in a video call or meeting. While you are in the video meeting, moving your mouse on the Teams screen will display the control bar. Selecting the ellipses (...) will offer several options, including the option to Show background effects. If you have enabled the New meeting experience, these controls appear in the top right of the meeting window.

Selecting Show background effects will open the Background settings option pane. From this menu, you can select the blur option to keep yourself in focus while blurring your background. You could also select one of the pre-loaded background images that Microsoft has included. The program uses AI to separate your image from your surroundings and tries to place you on top of the background image.

At the top of the Background settings, there is a link to + Add new if you want to add additional background images. If you click on + Add new, Teams will open another window for you to select a background image from your computer.
