Provide an interface and process for password creation, resetting, and recovery. Create and deploy password policies that provide an appropriate level of assurance for the role of the user on campus.

Availability:
Password services are available 24/7/365. Support for password recovery when automated measures are unsuccessful will be available during normal work hours.

Policy:
UW-Stout passwords must meet the complexity defined by the position of the user. Resetting a password must be performed by the user.  The helpdesk cannot see or change a password for a user. The user can reset their password with their existing password even if it is expired.  A forgotten password can be reset by answering 2 of the three security questions created upon activating the account and providing their campus ID number and date of birth. Failure to answer the questions properly will send the answers to an external email account provided at activation. Finally if the online recovery options are unsuccessful the Infrastructure Services server team can reset the password and clear the security answers with the verification of a photo ID or on the telephone by verifying personal information.

To provide an intuitive interface to support self-service password recovery.
