Audacity is a free open source digital audio editor and recording computer software application, available for Windows, macOS/OS X, Linux and other operating systems. Audacity can be used to create and edit audio files on your computer. Users may record live audio, convert tapes and records into digital recordings or CD's, change the speed or pitch of the recording, and more.  
 
Software is free for students. 
 
How to get this software: 
 
Students:  Download from http://www.audacityteam.org/download/
 
Faculty/staff: Through Software Center on a PC or Self Service if on a MAC
