Kaltura: Inserting Videos in Canvas

This articles provides instructions on how instructors can insert (embed) Kaltura Capture videos into Canvas.

Insert Video via Rich Content Editor

Once you have uploaded videos into your My Media account or have recorded them with Kaltura Capture, you can easily insert them into Canvas.

The most convenient method for inserting Kaltura videos into Canvas is through the Rich Content Editor available through the editing screen of most Canvas tools. Follow these steps: 

  1. Go to any Canvas Page, Assignment, Quiz, or Discussion where you would like to insert/embed a video and click Edit.

  2. From the Rich Content Editor tool bar, click the My Media (Kaltura) button.

    Note:
    If the My Media (Kaltura) button is not visible on the tool bar, click the Apps (plug in) button, click View All and then select My Media (Kaltura). The My Media (Kaltura) button will appear on the tool bar moving forward.

  3. Your My Media page will open. Choose the video you want to insert/embed and click the </> Embed button.

  4. Your video will appear in the Rich Content Editor text box.

    6. Click Save.

Notes:

  • Videos will be inserted at the location of your cursor in the Rich Content Editor.
  • You can also embed media files from other sources, such as YouTube, by clicking the Apps (plug in) button > View All
