Networking Printing (Windows Computers): Installing Department Printers On Student Worker Laptops

Article on how to install department printers for student workers around campus.

Before installing a printer, students must first set up Credential Manager so they can sign in to the PaperCut print server. 

Add Credentials

  1. Open the Start Menu and search "Credential Manager"



  2. Go to Windows Credentials and press Add a Windows credential

  3. Type in the following credentials:

    Internet or network address: "\\pcweb.uwstout.edu"
    User name: Your UW-Stout email without "my." (ex: example1234@uwstout.edu)
    Password: Your UW-Stout password

  4. Press OK to save

Note: Anytime you change your UW-Stout password, you'll have to update your windows credentials password as well.

Install PaperCut Client  

Students must have the PaperCut Client installed and running before they can print.

The PaperCut Client allows students to select the appropriate funding string for their print job.

Follow the steps below to install and set up the PaperCut Client. 

Papercut Client Install

  1. Open the Start Menu and search "Company Portal..."

  2. In the top-left, search "PaperCut"
  3. Select PaperCut MF Client

  4. Hit Install
  5. Wait for the PaperCut icon to appear in the bottom-right corner

Install Printer

  1. Press Windows + R
  2. Enter "\\pcweb.uwstout.edu" in the text field and press OK.

    Run PCWeb.UWStout.edu

  3. Find your printer in the list of available printers

  4. Right-click the desired printer and hit Connect...

    Connect to Printer

  5. When the printer has been successfully added the print queue will open.
