Information about retiree email accounts
UW-Stout faculty and staff who have not been granted emeritus status can keep their email accounts upon retirement. Human Resources has a retirement checklist that instructs retirees to contact the UW-Stout Technology HelpDesk to schedule a time to meet with our staff to ensure that your account is ready to be converted and to create a HelpDesk ticket for you. The main points that the technician will be checking are:
- Ensure that you are not using PST (personal folders) in Outlook on your primary campus computer. If you are using a PST, we can assist with moving all of the email out of it and into your inbox so that you can access the emails after your retirement.
- Assist with any files you may have in OneDrive for Business. Once you retire you are no longer eligible to use OneDrive for Business. We can assist in copying files that you need or in distributing files to others in your department
One other important note: when your account is converted, you will log into your email with a different address. If your email address is currently firstname.lastname@example.org, your new retiree login will be email@example.com. You will still be able to receive email at your original address (friends, colleagues, and family will not need to know your new address as the old one will still work), but you will be required to log in to OWA/Webmail on the Web with the new address.
