Information about retiree email accounts
With supervisor approval, UW-Stout faculty and staff who have NOT been granted emeritus status can keep their email accounts upon retirement. Access to all other systems such as SharePoint, OneDrive for Business, and Access Stout will be removed.
Retirees are encouraged to contact the Technology HelpDesk prior to their last day to schedule a time to meet with our staff to ensure that your account is ready to be converted. The main points that the technician will be checking are:
- Ensure that you are not using PST (personal folders) in Outlook on your campus computer. If you are using a PST, we can assist with moving all of the email out of it and into your inbox so that you can access the emails after your retirement.
- Assist with any files you may have in OneDrive for Business. Once you retire you are no longer eligible to use OneDrive for Business. We can assist in copying files that you need or in distributing files to others in your department.
- Make sure that all work-related emails, especially those containing High-Risk data, are permanently deleted from the mailbox.
If your account is unused for 6 months after your password expires LIT will disable the account. After being disabled for 6 months the account will be deleted. Accounts that are unused and disabled will not be re-enabled.
Those who do not schedule an appointment with the HelpDesk to convert their account to a retiree account will lose access to email after their last scheduled contract day and will not be re-enabled.
