Change your preferred display name (Students): Office 365 including Email, Teams, etc.
Summary: Instructions for students to update their Office 365 display name.
The Registration and Records Office maintains documentation for how to enter a preferred name in Access Stout (login required). Preferred names are reflected in in many internal locations such as class lists, student center, and unofficial transcripts.
Students may also update their first, last, and display name for all Office 365 services, including Teams.
- Access Office 365 account information via a web browser.
- In the left panel, select General.
- Modify First name, Last name, and Display name as desired.
- After completing changes, click Save.
Please note that it can take up to 48 hours for others to see your updated information in Outlook or Teams. In some cases it could take up to 28 days for personal information to update on the Teams client. (Microsoft Article: User information not updated.)
Warning: Teams uses a caching system to improve performance. Changes to display name and telephone number can take up to 28 days before displaying. Profile photo changes can take up to 60 days.
