Office 365: What is Office 365 Education for Students?

Office 365 for Education defined including eligibility.

Office 365 Education for Students is an Office 365 plan that is available for free to active or part-time UW-Stout students. Schools like Stout qualify for this benefit when they have licensed Office institution-wide for their faculty and staff through Microsoft’s Volume Licensing program and are enrolled to allow students to sign-up directly with Microsoft.

Office 365 is accessed using an active student's UW-Stout email address and password. This plan allows students to use online versions of or install Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher, and Access on up to 5 PCs or Macs and Office apps on other mobile devices including Android, iPad®, and Windows tablets. The plan also includes 1TB of OneDrive storage and students can edit and collaborate using Office Online, and SharePoint sites.

Please note that Office 365 is a robust and dynamic service; UW-Stout technology staff are not experts in all aspects of Office 365 nor its components. Users are encouraged to explore the features of Office 365, utilize Microsoft’s online training materials via their Learning Center, and explore other sites, such as LinkedIn Learning, for training and how-to's.
